Instant messaging considered harmful

I think the most important thing to take from all this that there should be a centralized way to handle translation discussion, without discussion of terms getting lost between thcrap's discord channels and the wiki's discussion pages.

To prove Alfa wrong (and also to prevent the exacerbation of the problem) let's have a serious attempt of using wiki for this sort of stuff. Since this was discussed privately and not on TPC discord, I should probably elaborate on what is the problem. Very often what happens is someone on the discord asks for opinion on some complicated question. Since people generally don't like to exert effort, these questions tend to stay unanswered for a while. In the meantime, someone else posts some menial stuff that generates lots of replies, and now the first poster has no chance of ever getting a reply. Discord threads make this even worse, since literally no one reads them. The other problem is that eventually someone brings up something that was already discussed years ago, and people either don't know about the discussion, or have a hard time finding it. It'd be nice to be able to tell why some translation decision was made without having to dig through an entire decade's worth of chat logs. Not to mention being able to seamlessly continue the existing discussions.

Ironically, this is not the first time we were discussing this. Alfa's proposed solution is creating thpatch forums, while mine is using the existing wiki software for what it was designed for: collaboration. We haven't had much success with using talk pages on the wiki so far, but we haven't really tried. There are only two problems we have to solve to make it work: make people realize that wiki talk pages exist (which is what this page is for), and convince people to actually engage in non-IM discussions.
