Language requests

Commons-emblem-notice.svg Global Translation

Translation Notes

Would it be possible to include a .txt for each language with possible translation notes together with the patch? Many of the translations in my language have weird meanings or references which would be quite important to mention in a separate file for the users, and I'm sure all the languages would need that as well. Thanks in advance.

Including the file is no problem - you could simply upload this .txt file using the normal wiki uploader, and include it via a {{Thcrap Include}} call on the Patch:Lang_pt-br page. At the moment, you wouldn't have the access rights to do this yourself, but once I've finished the new security system, it will be possible.
However, of course you need to show users that this file exists. thcrap currently doesn't have a method to do that.
This already is a planned feature for the future graphical patch configuration tool (along with other nice things like automatic generation of a "credits section" from the wiki data). But development on that won't be started until after the PC-98 patches have been completed. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 22:59, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Alright, the new security system is now set up. You could now include a text file by posting something like {{thcrap Include|File:lang_pt-br-readme.txt|target=readme.txt|game=}} onto the Patch:Lang_pt-br page, and then uploading that file. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 19:57, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Flag vi.svg Vietnamese

Just added it to the patcher. To translate the content, simply follow the rest of the tutorial. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 12:51, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Vietnamese THVNFB

May i request for a sub portal of Vietnamese for THVNFB? we're an independent Touhou community in Vietnam and have a private translation group which having more organized skill and style in translation. It be easier for us since our translation process is going smoothly, but might get interrupted with individual translators who freely using the main portal. Thanks in advance

Well, the main Vietnamese portal is currently unused, and the Vietnamese translations as a whole are not seeing a lot of activity. I see no problem with your group "taking over" the main portal - just add a note telling others that your group has everything under control. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 04:59, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Alternative Vietnamese Translation

I would like to request for another vietnamese subportal for an alternative Vietnamese translation, the translation done by THVNFB while not extractly wrong, made heavy use of borrowed chinese words, which not only made touhou read like a chinese story from the middle age in their translation, but also falsely convey some meaning. My translation project aim to create a Vietnamese translation that use mostly pure vietnamese words/vocabulary and only rely on borrowed chinese words when absolute necessary, that should make touhou read more like a moderm work/story, which is what it really is.

Collaboration between us is not possible, as people other than me have criticised their translation style in the past, but they refused to change.

If possible, please let only me have permission to edit the alternative Vietnamese subportal, due to the nature of VN touhou fandom, there are a good chance of vandalism, a lone translator I am, I'm experienced and have plenty of free time, I can completely translate at least one story scenario per day including extra scenario, so if all go as planned, all the main game translation should be done in little more than a month, there might be other translator will join me in the future too.

Thank in advance. Kimidori (talk)

I see. I'm a little bit reluctant to open yet another closed Vietnamese sub-code, though. After reading your explanation, I'm convinced to move the existing vi translations to vi-thvnfb (after all, that's what they proposed initially as well). But there's still the question which language code to give to you.
Would vandalism really be that likely in the Vietnamese community? I once assumed the same for the English one, but I haven't seen any vandalism yet. But yes, it's technically not possible yet to lock a certain language code for certain users.
Since I always prefer to keep the base language code open for community editing, I would like to do the same with vi. If you are really that worried about vandalism, I could very well create a separate code (how about vi-neutral?) that you can announce as yours in its portal page. vi will then stay empty for now.
If you decide on this, I'll try adding a protection feature, but I can't guarantee anything in that regard.

But there would also be another option.

Thinking about all this, I've decided to prioritize the support for multiple patch servers. This would allow (and require) you to directly edit the patch files yourself without going through Touhou Patch Center, and to host them on a separate server. This server does not necessarily have to be a paid or free webspace; anything that supports basic HTTP will work. Even a cloud service like Dropbox will do.
Touhou Patch Center would then only contain the URL to your server, to make it show up in the configuration tool.
However, it will take a while to implement this into the configuration tool (I guess it will be available a month from now). Once that's done, I'll also ask THVNFB to move their translations to a private server.
To summarize, you can now choose between the following:
1. vi will be moved to vi-thvnfb, vi will be opened for community editing.
2. vi will be moved to vi-thvnfb, vi-neutral will be added and treated as being under your control. vi will remain empty for now.
3. Wait until multiple patch servers are supported (~ 1 month), then set up your own server, fully under your control, without going through Touhou Patch Center.

I think I'll wait till multiple patch servers are supported
Thank you for your effort

Flag pt.svg Português (PT)

I'd like to request Portuguese from Portugal. I know it appears on the drop-menu as "pt - português" but the results of the search are actually from the "português do brasil" translation. And I can't change those since they're from a different dialect. Monykukki (talk) 20:36, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Created a portal page for it - the integration into the patcher has already been done, so you can start translating right away.
I was wondering about the dialect differences too. Since I don't know much about the differences between European and Brazilian Portuguese, I would have suggested to do it just like British English - where that translation only contains the differences to American English. But some research I just did has shown that there are indeed significant differences especially in informal language. So, if it is easier for you to just start a new translation from scratch, go ahead. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 20:43, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Português BR Zoado

I would like to request the links to this language, please create it/Gostaria de pedir a criação de links dessa linguagem, por favor criem eles :D

So you're basically asking for something like lang_pt-br-lol, right? --NamelessLegacy (talk) 11:23, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Exactly, but if you let me ask, i would like the troll face meme as the flag please :D/Exatamente, mas se você me permite pedir gostaria de um troll face como bandeira :D

Malay (Simplified)

May I request for Malay (Simplified) language. Because the current Malay translator, Formerhell (talk), want to use Standard Malay but i want to use simplified Malay.

Kelantanese

Can I request for a Kelantanese language support? It's a distinct local dialect of Malay, and it's certainly not available in the language selection. --IrvalFirestar (talk) 09:24, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Done - ms-kel is the language code here on the wiki and in the configuration tool. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 12:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Jawi Malay?

If the patcher can support some non-standard Arabic characters, then can I request for a Jawi Malay dialect patch? It's basically Malay written using arabic characters but it's also a bit different in that we use (actually, invent) several more characters to match our spoken Malay and that we (in most parts) ditch the Middle-Eastern dash system so that our words match up with what we're saying. If the patcher can support these, then I would like to have a small hub for it.

(http://www.ejawi.net/converterV2.php) This is a good example. Just type anything starting with C, G, Ng, P, and V. The first characters that are translated are most likely the ones we invented.

Just so that I understand this correctly: Are you referring to Pattani Malay (a dialect also known as Jawi, according to Wikipedia) or Malay written in Jawi (which is a script)? The former would get the language code mfa, the latter something like ms-jawi.
The custom Arabic characters should be are no problem at all, as they are supported by Unicode just fine. We just have to find and bundle a font that can display them in-game.
The real issue here is adding right-to-left support in the games - which, honestly, is something I have been looking forward to for some time.
It will take a few days to implement this. There'll be a new version of the patcher with support for the resolution dialog soon, and I'll try to include RTL in the version after that. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 12:01, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
It's Malay in Jawi. I should have said that earlier. Whoops. --Sketchdoodle (talk) 12:16, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
I dunno if this is a coding error, but where is the Jawi Malay portal on the Language Coordination Portals?
Never mind! Thank you! --Sketchdoodle (talk) 14:23, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Latin Spanish

Hi, I'd like to request Latin Spanish. The one we have right now is Spanish from Spain, and it has differences in dialect. Some people want to translate to Latin Spanish, so it could be a good idea to have a portal for them. --Ghildrean 10:13, 21 August 2013 (UTC+1)

Alright, created es-419 (yes, not exactly intuitive, but this is the widely recommended code for that).
The patch definition currently does not state to the user whether this is just a difference patch (like en-gb is to en) or a full standalone translation (like pt-br is to pt), since it doesn't seem to be clear at this point. I'll edit that once it does. --NamelessLegacy (talk) 09:59, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
