Th08/Spell cards in UK English
|
In order to keep duplication of content to a minimum, pages related to British English will only contain the differences between the British English translation and the American English translation; hence why BrE may not be 100% completed.
Please try and keep translations synchronised if a dialogue box on the English side has a new translation, with exceptions of AmE & BrE differences. If a translation has been changed on the English side that no longer holds that variant from BrE (e.g. ‘center’/‘centre’, but the English side now uses the word ‘central’), please clear that BrE translation box for the time being and let TonyUK know. |

| Vocal Sign ‘Hooting in the Night’ | Mystia Lorelei
| Vocal Sign ‘Howl of the Horned Owl’ | Mystia Lorelei | A horned owl's hoot. I've heard there isn't much taxonomic difference between owls and horned owls. In my opinion, horned owls are cooler. |
| Vocal Sign ‘Howl of the Horned Owl’ | Mystia Lorelei | A horned owl's hoot. The word for ‘horned owl’ (木菟) is similar to the word for ‘Raspberry’ (木苺). Now I feel they're cuter than ever. |
| Moth Sign ‘Sphingid's Wingbeats’ | Mystia Lorelei
| Moth Sign ‘Sphingid's Wingbeats’ | Mystia Lorelei
| Toxin Sign ‘Poisonous Moth's Scales’ | Mystia Lorelei | Poisonous scales are rushing towards humans. Even the speckles on the wings of these moths are poisonous. Fantastic. |

| Night-Blindness ‘Song of the Night Sparrow’ | Mystia Lorelei | Mystia's favourite spell as a Night Sparrow. An old story says that eating lamprey are good for night-blindness. Actually, it does work because they contain an abundant amount of vitamin A. |
| Night-Blindness ‘Song of the Night Sparrow’ | Mystia Lorelei | Mystia's favourite spell as a Night Sparrow. But in the original folktale, it's facing a Night Sparrow during daytime that'll give you night-blindness. |
| Night-Blindness ‘Song of the Night Sparrow’ | Mystia Lorelei | Mystia's favourite spell as a Night Sparrow. By the way, I like sparrows. The salty taste from its entrails goes very well with saké. A bit bony though. |
| Night Sparrow ‘Midnight Chorus Master’ | Mystia Lorelei
| Night Sparrow ‘Midnight Chorus Master’ | Mystia Lorelei | If I'd written it as ‘Midnight Conductor’, then it wouldn't have been fearsome at all. ‘Chorus Master’ isn't that fearsome, either. The idea wasn't fearsome to begin with. |
| Night Sparrow ‘Midnight Chorus Master’ | Mystia Lorelei

| Ambition Sign ‘Masakado Crisis’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Ambition Sign ‘Yoshimitsu Crisis’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | Ashikaga, Yoshimitsu. The bullets start to twist a little bit here. I don't think that's a bad thing. |
| Ambition Sign ‘GHQ Crisis’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | And so we've come to the present day. It already feels like it's collapsed beyond repair. Good luck, Japan. |
| Land Sign ‘Three Sacred Treasures - Sword’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | One of the three divine artefacts. It's amazing because it's a divine relic, but actually it was used like a simple lawn mower. |
| Land Sign ‘Three Sacred Treasures - Orb’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | One of the three divine artefacts. There's something erotic about the curve of the jewels. Just what you'd expect from a divine artefact. |
| Land Sign ‘Three Sacred Treasures - Mirror’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | One of the three divine artefacts. They say mirrors are used for magic, but it's really more of a trick. Magic's usually about imitation, er, well, mirrors are magic, eh? Sorry. |
| Land Scheme ‘Three Sacred Treasures - Country’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Ending Sign ‘Phantasmal Emperor’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Ending Sign ‘Phantasmal Emperor’ | Keine Kamishirasawa

| Future ‘Gods' Realm’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Future ‘Gods' Realm’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | Say, is the Japanese character ‘天’ in ‘高天原’ (Takamagahara) pronounced ‘ga’?? Or ‘maga’?? |
| Future ‘Gods' Realm’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | It's actually easy. Those high-shot-power characters kick this kind of card's arse. |

| Dream Sign ‘Evil-Sealing Circle’ | Reimu Hakurei
| Dream Sign ‘Evil-Sealing Circle’ | Reimu Hakurei | A spell that seals the opponent using enchanted amulets. If you die, getting your items will be a pain. Counter-attack with your bombs. (That's no good, either.) |
| Divine Arts ‘Omnidirectional Demon-Binding Circle’ | Reimu Hakurei | It kind of looks like Reimu's caught in her own trap. Anyway, isn't this more of an instant death than sealing? |
| Divine Arts ‘Omnidirectional Demon-Binding Circle’ | Reimu Hakurei | You can't really watch how these amulets are moving whilst playing. Who the hell does she want to show these beautiful patterns to? |
| Spirit Sign ‘Fantasy Seal -Concentrate-’ | Reimu Hakurei | This is one of the spell cards that doesn't look a lot like when the player uses it. Mind the amulets slowly falling towards you. |
| Spirit Sign ‘Fantasy Seal -Concentrate-’ | Reimu Hakurei | This is another spell card that doesn't look much like when the player uses it. The charms move as if they've got minds of their own; it's like something from a dream. |
| Migrating Spirit ‘Fantasy Seal -Marred-’ | Reimu Hakurei
| Migrating Spirit ‘Fantasy Seal -Marred-’ | Reimu Hakurei

| Divine Spirit ‘Fantasy Seal -Blink-’ | Reimu Hakurei
| Divine Spirit ‘Fantasy Seal -Blink-’ | Reimu Hakurei | The world as Reimu sees it is quite different to your perspective. It feels like the player has been sealed in the Reimu Dimension. |

| Magic Sign ‘Stardust Reverie’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Black Magic ‘Event Horizon’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Black Magic ‘Event Horizon’ | Marisa Kirisame | Marisa's horizon. A barrier done in Marisa's style. However, focussing too much on the border itself misses the point, according to Reimu. |
| Love Sign ‘Non-Directional Laser’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Love Sign ‘Non-Directional Laser’ | Marisa Kirisame | A laser fired in all directions. It's become quite colourful, but it's still an attack we've seen before. |
| Love Storm ‘Starlight Typhoon’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Love Storm ‘Starlight Typhoon’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Love Sign ‘Master Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame

| Loving Heart ‘Double Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Loving Heart ‘Double Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Light Sign ‘Earth-light Ray’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Light Sign ‘Earth-light Ray’ | Marisa Kirisame | Marisa ran through everything else, so she had to dig up this old spell. It looks like she's shooting at herself in this attack, so she sealed it away. |
| Light Blast ‘Shoot the Moon’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Light Blast ‘Shoot the Moon’ | Marisa Kirisame | This ‘shoot the Moon’ term is the best sarcasm in this game, in fact. Of course, Marisa isn't aware of that, though. |
| Magicannon ‘Final Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Magicannon ‘Final Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame
| Magicannon ‘Final Master Spark’ | Marisa Kirisame

| Wave Sign ‘Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Shaker)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Wave Sign ‘Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Shaker)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | Irresistible, lunatic red eyes. As the illusion runs its course, objects travelling straight appear to go in different directions. However, this illusion won't hit you. |
| Illusion Wave ‘Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Blowing)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Illusion Wave ‘Red-Eyed Hypnosis (Mind Blowing)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba

| Lunatic Sign ‘Hallucinogenic Tuning (Visionary Tuning)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Lunatic Gaze ‘Lunatic Stare Tuning (Illusion Seeker)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | The dissonance won't hit you. It's just an illusion. Well, the real problem's when she normalises the wavelengths; oh, you get it already. |
| Lunatic Gaze ‘Lunatic Stare Tuning (Illusion Seeker)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Loafing Sign ‘Life & Spirit Stopping (Idling Wave)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Loafing Sign ‘Life & Spirit Stopping (Idling Wave)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Indolence ‘Life & Spirit Stopping (Mind Stopper)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Indolence ‘Life & Spirit Stopping (Mind Stopper)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | The person in the middle of this pattern is quite carefree. She stops to have a break every once in a while, which lets the player get away. |
| Spread Sign ‘Moon of Truth (Invisible Full Moon)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | The true Moon is always a source of madness; when they go completely mad, normal people can't see any more. |
| Spread Sign ‘Moon of Truth (Invisible Full Moon)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | The true Moon is always a source of madness; when they go completely mad, normal people can't see any more. You can't even see the illusions. |
| Spread Sign ‘Moon of Truth (Invisible Full Moon)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| Spread Sign ‘Moon of Truth (Invisible Full Moon)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | ‘Oh wait, if I don't even show illusions, that's just an attack in the wrong dimension.’ Thus she occasionally tunes it back to normal in a flurry. Goofy. |
| Lunar Eyes ‘Lunar Rabbit's Remote Mesmerism (Tele-Mesmerism)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | Reinforcements from the Moon. It's no longer possible to recognise if they're the real ones or illusions. |
| Lunar Eyes ‘Lunar Rabbit's Remote Mesmerism (Tele-Mesmerism)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba | In order to mesmerise people on Earth from the Moon, they need to stare at the Moon. Perhaps ‘moon-viewing’ was how ancient Lunarians controlled humans on Earth. |
| Lunar Eyes ‘Lunar Rabbit's Remote Mesmerism (Tele-Mesmerism)’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba

| Spacesphere ‘Earth in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Spacesphere ‘Earth in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Awakened God ‘Memories of the Age of Gods’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Awakened God ‘Memories of the Age of Gods’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| God Sign ‘Genealogy of the Sky-Born’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| God Sign ‘Genealogy of the Sky-Born’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Revival ‘Seimei Yūgi -Life Game-’ | Eirin Yagokoro | A game of life forms: that is, the Life Game. You might not understand this if you didn't study at a technical college. Also, it's not a board game. |
| Revival ‘Seimei Yūgi -Life Game-’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Resurrection ‘Rising Game’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Resurrection ‘Game of Rising’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Leading God ‘Omoikane's Device’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Leading God ‘Omoikane's Device’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Mind of God ‘Omoikane's Brain’ | Eirin Yagokoro | Intellect shows the way. Well, it might be intelligent. Old-school games have tonnes of enemies with their brains exposed. Lame design, I think. |
| Mind of God ‘Omoikane's Brain’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Curse of the Heavens ‘Apollo 13’ | Eirin Yagokoro | 13 is an unlucky number. Things like the space programme should leave out these unlucky numbers. |
| Curse of the Heavens ‘Apollo 13’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Curse of the Heavens ‘Apollo 13’ | Eirin Yagokoro | I was always curious, doesn't Apollo mean ‘Apollo’? Wasn't Apollo god of the Sun? Then, why don't they just go straight into the Sun? |
| Curse of the Heavens ‘Apollo 13’ | Eirin Yagokoro | The good old ‘Apollo Chocolate’. Eating it from its top end is quite popular, but with its origin, it's more realistic to eat it from the bottom. |
| Esoterica ‘Astronomical Entombing’ | Eirin Yagokoro | Eirin tampers with space with no reason. Anyway, it's worth the enormous title. |
| Esoterica ‘Astronomical Entombing’ | Eirin Yagokoro | She says that Earth will be one large sealed chamber, but for me, the Moon is more like a sealed chamber. Emissaries from the Moon will either be burnt in the stratosphere or lose their way. |
| Esoterica ‘Astronomical Entombing’ | Eirin Yagokoro | The fake Moon Eirin prepared is more lavish than the original. But it's a ‘Nostalgic Moon’ according to Yuyuko... Was it sumptuous in the past too? |
| Esoterica ‘Astronomical Entombing’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Forbidden Arcanum ‘Hourai Elixir’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Forbidden Arcanum ‘Hourai Elixir’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Forbidden Arcanum ‘Hourai Elixir’ | Eirin Yagokoro | This ‘Hourai’ means ‘It's found in Hourai’ too, but it's more likely that Kaguya's using her own name on it. So ‘Kaguya Elixir’ would work too. |
| Forbidden Arcanum ‘Hourai Elixir’ | Eirin Yagokoro
Stage 6B |
|||
| Medicine Sign ‘Galaxy in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Medicine Sign ‘Galaxy in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Medicine Sign ‘Galaxy in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro | It's a good taste to use stars to resemble rivers, naming it ‘Milky Way’. The current Japanese language lacks tastes like that. |
| Medicine Sign ‘Galaxy in a Pot’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| Impossible Request ‘Jewel from the Dragon's Neck -Five-Coloured Shots-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Impossible Request "Jewel from the Dragon's Neck -Five-Colored Shots-" | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Brilliant Dragon Bullet’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Brilliant Dragon Bullet’ | Kaguya Houraisan | The legends say that when the colour of the dragon's eyes change, a tsunami will come. I'm curious if there are more dragons appearing than tsunamis at these times? |
| Impossible Request ‘Buddha's Stone Bowl -Indomitable Will-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | One of the impossible requests Kaguya presented. This one's most sombre, in my opinion... |
| Impossible Request ‘Buddha's Stone Bowl -Indomitable Will-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Buddhist Diamond’ | Kaguya Houraisan | It's not a lamely-jewelled foul Buddhist. Kaguya thought it's too sombre, so she promoted it into a jewel. |
| Divine Treasure ‘Buddhist Diamond’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Impossible Request ‘Robe of Fire Rat -Patient Mind-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Impossible Request ‘Robe of Fire Rat -Patient Mind-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Salamander Shield’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Salamander Shield’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Impossible Request ‘Swallow's Cowrie Shell -Everlasting Life-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Impossible Request ‘Swallow's Cowrie Shell -Everlasting Life-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Life Spring Infinity’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| Divine Treasure ‘Life Spring Infinity’ | Kaguya Houraisan | As low as fertility goes, there'll be even less video game players in future. I want to make a game that isn't only for children, but something everyone can enjoy from their heart. Some day. |
| Impossible Request ‘Bullet Branch of Hourai -Rainbow Danmaku-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | One of the impossible requests Kaguya presented...? Ms Kaguya, there's something wrong with this. |
| Impossible Request ‘Bullet Branch of Hourai -Rainbow Danmaku-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | One of the impossible requests Kaguya presented...? Rumours say that there's a mountain called Hourai in the Eastern Ocean, and there's a tree that grows danmaku there. Hourai awaits, shooters! |
| Divine Treasure ‘Jewelled Branch of Hourai -Dreamlike Paradise-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | Only one real treasure Kaguya has, in her possession. These rainbow coloured jewels can be turned into danmaku too. That sucks. |
| Divine Treasure ‘Jewelled Branch of Hourai -Dreamlike Paradise-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -New Moon-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Crescent Moon-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -1st Quarter's Moon-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Matsuyoi-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | From now on, Kaguya's night begins. The clock goes at a tremendous speed. Ah, I forgot to tell this, ‘Time’ and Clock’ are two completely different things. |
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -11 o'Clock-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half to Midnight-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Midnight-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | Twelve o'clock, the time when a boy in between a good-boy and a bad-boy goes to bed. Or, the time when Spiritual Canister (Telly) says ‘Ashitama!’ |
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half Past Midnight-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -1 o'Clock-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half Past 1-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Dead of Night-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half Past 2-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -3 o'Clock-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | Three in midnight. If you've got work to do tomorrow, you ought to be sleeping by now. |
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half Past 3-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -4 o'Clock-’ | Kaguya Houraisan | Around 4am, it's no longer night for some people. The definition of morning depends on the person, so the border is very loose. |
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Half Past 4-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Morning Mist-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Dawn-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Morning Star-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘End of Imperishable Night -Rising World-’ | Kaguya Houraisan
Extra Stage |
|||
| Past ‘Ancient History -Old History-’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Reincarnation ‘Returning-Bridge Ichijo’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| Future ‘New History Of Phantasm -Next History-’ | Keine Kamishirasawa | The next history's the future. The ability to create history's the same as creating the future. People who always look to the future are actually walking backwards to the past, or so Keine said. |
| Limiting Edict ‘Curse of Tsuki-no-Iwakasa’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
| Immortal ‘Fire Bird -Flying Phoenix-’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | Ho-yoku Tensho~. I don't know how it's set up, but it looks strong. The Phoenix, Fenghuang and Suzaku are often thought of as the same thing, but is it really so? |
| Fujiwara ‘Flaw of Forgiving Shrine’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
| Deathless ‘Xu Fu's Dimension’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
| Forgiveness ‘Honest Man's Death’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
| Hollow Giant ‘Woo’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
| Everlasting ‘Phoenix's Tail’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | Phoenix's tail, mass-production model. It's relatively cheap. Lately, immortal society has found it's easier to prolong their lives with something inexpensive like this, rather than look for something as rare as the Hourai Elixir, so it's got popular. |
| Hourai ‘South Wind, Clear Sky -Fujiyama Volcano-’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | Mt Fuji's in fact a volcano, that often erupts. I feel like if I got 80% of the way up Mt Fuji, it'd erupt, so I won't climb it. I'm fine just looking at it from down here. |
| ‘Possessed by Phoenix’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | The grilled chicken, not the mahjong term. Please, my favourite chicken wings, please don't suddenly come back to life. Please don't possess me. |
| ‘Hourai Doll’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | I see, so it was you. You were that strange human. Well, then, you won't die. After all, you're immortal. |
| ‘Imperishable Shooting’ | Fujiwara no Mokou
Last Word |
|||
| ‘Unseasonal Butterfly Storm’ | Wriggle Nightbug
| ‘Blind Nightbird’ | Mystia Lorelei | Lorelei. I often misspell her name as ‘Lorarei’. Ahh, Lora. It looks as though she has only 3 fingers from these pictures, but she actually has 5 fingers. |
| ‘Emperor of the East’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| ‘Lunatic Red Eyes’ | Reisen Udongein Inaba
| ‘Heaven Spider's Butterfly-Capturing Web’ | Eirin Yagokoro
| ‘Tree-Ocean of Hourai’ | Kaguya Houraisan
| ‘Phoenix Rebirth’ | Fujiwara no Mokou | ‘妹’ (little sister) and ‘紅’ (scarlet) may remind you of someone else's name, but actually, it can mean ‘paint me red’ as well. If it was any more red, though, it'd just be a fireball. |
| ‘Ancient Duper’ | Tewi Inaba
| ‘Total Purification’ | Keine Kamishirasawa
| ‘Fantasy Nature’ | Reimu Hakurei | A secret technique that's extreme in many ways. With Reimu's ability to float, she floats from everything in reality and becomes invincible. If it wasn't just for play (with time limit), nobody could beat her with any method. |
| ‘Blazing Star’ | Marisa Kirisame
| ‘Deflation World’ | Sakuya Izayoi
| ‘Matsuyoi-Reflecting Satellite Slash’ | Youmu Konpaku
| ‘The Phantom of the Grand Guignol’ | Alice Margatroid
| ‘Scarlet Destiny’ | Remilia Scarlet
| ‘Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana’ | Yuyuko Saigyouji | Yuyuko's ultimate move, her ‘death’. It's really a shame that there's not many chances to reveal her true ability. It doesn't look cool that brat's killing anything and such. |
| ‘Profound Danmaku Barrier -Phantasm, Foam & Shadow-’ | Yukari Yakumo |
