This place has an uninteresting aura about it. I've got no business being at boring places.

No photos

It feels like something interesting might happen here.

Low score

Hmm. I've taken enough pictures, but... These photos are all a bit second-rate. Perhaps I should have another go at taking them?

Low photos

Well, I've taken some shots here, haven't I? But if I can't get a few more good photos, I can't write up an article.

Level 1
Scene 1

I did a little photography practice with the harvest goddess who was wandering nearby. Maybe I'll do this again if I start getting rusty...

Scene 2

My practice partner snapped. Even though I should have been the one getting angry! It bothers me how easily gods lose their tempers these days...

Scene 3

Shake the tree and the leaves come dancing down. Watching the goddess of falling leaves hitting the trees so violently... She's going to strip them bare.

Scene 4

This year's harvest festival is quite something, isn't it? I wonder what they're harvesting and what they're celebrating? I wonder if it's... that? You know, humans?

Scene 5

The winter wind is cold. I took pictures of the leaves that the wind blew up into the air, but I don't really think they'll make good material. Well, I guess I was causing some wind, too.

Scene 6

Oh, the goddess also runs a sweet potato stand. Autumn is all about the sweet potatoes, isn't it? Soukan Noguni certainly was great!

Level 2
Scene 1

This is the famous jealousy-maniac. Lately I've been wondering if maybe her jealousy is just an act.

Scene 2

Reporters sometimes delve into the darkness of others. Those detested Nagashibina are one of those things. I want to challenge someone without having to worry about libel!

Scene 3

Such an explosion of jealousy! I've never heard of hysteria where the patient's very thoughts explode. I wonder if it's a kind of heart disease...?

Scene 4

The purification river is a river that carries away a human's filth. As expected, it's piled up on the riverbed. How filthy.

Scene 5

Oh my, with flames of jealousy as splendid as these, even I get jealous once in a while. Maybe that's not a bad thing. But, I wonder how I can get jealous.

Scene 6

The omikuji I drew said "bad luck". I guess maybe I just went to pick up some misfortune. It's best to keep on drawing until you get "very good luck," when that happens.

Level 3
Scene 1

She's an earth spider. They're quite skilled and strong, and specially good with architecture, so I invite them over often. It's very convenient. I should get to know more youkai like her.

Scene 2

She swings around this horribly unfashionable umbrella. I wonder, is she having fun? I really don't understand the way young umbrella monsters think these days.

Scene 3

Uh-oh, it's a Tsurube-otoshi! Despite her appearance, this is a ferocious youkai. She waits in the darkness for humans passing by, but the places where she hides are obvious.

Scene 4

I managed to get a shot of the instant she shot out her sturdy threads. They're thin, but they're even used in architecture. They only snap under special conditions. I wonder what they are?

Scene 5

A glorious rainbow appears! Apparently, they're a type of dragon god - such a cryptic being. I hope my pictures of it come out all right.

Scene 6

I was attacked pretty seriously. I'd like to have gotten more detailed material on her, since so little is known about this youkai, but when she goes berserk like this, well...

Scene 7

The Japanese foliage spider is a deadly arachnid living in this region. The mothers of this species offer their bodies as food for their young... but no one would read an article like that.

Scene 8

When I fly over the village on rainy days, I see people carrying umbrellas. Doesn't that leave them a bit defenseless? They'd be blind to stuff coming down from above, like shrine maidens.

Level 4
Scene 1

I took rolls of photos of a kappa playing on the river bed. Whenever you find that looking for story material is a pain, it's wonderfully easy to just cover local stuff like this.

Scene 2

The white wolf tengu who is in charge of the mountain security. I came to check if she has been actually working. Though we get into fights easily whenever we meet...

Scene 3

I photographed the kappa playing in the water. She appears to be playing innocently, but if you look closely you tend to see a human drowning. Ahh, so scary.

Scene 4

As usual, I got bitten. This mutt is so obedient towards the Great Tengu, but you can tell that she is looking down on us crow tengu. *fume, fume*

Scene 5

It looks like the kappa is bathing happily. You might think this is harassment, but it's not. If she spotted me, I'll blow lots of water at her with gusto.

Scene 6

Since I need materials for my article, I had her show me how she chases off intruders. Her skill makes her look bigger than she actually is! I hope she would always be in charge of guard duty.

Scene 7

The shirikodama, with its eye-watering stench, isn't that bad if it's dried out. But just how many humans were sacrificed to get this many shirikodama? This is something of endless interest.

Level 5
Scene 1

Hmm? Here's a youkai you don't see very often... She looks like a nun. I wonder if she's a priest at the temple they built in the village? I think I may make a series on her.

Scene 2

She's a boat spirit. There aren't many places you can use a boat in Gensokyo, so maybe she's bored. But if she lived in the Sanzu River, she might be able to sink as many boats as she wants.

Scene 3

Ahh, such a big hand! I wonder if he's a Mikoshi-Nyuudou... I found a sense of camaraderie in meeting old youkai like this. Gensokyo really is paradise. Still, it hurts when he hits me...

Scene 4

I've never seen an anchor before, but it's just a big fishing hook, isn't it? Except that instead of being used to catch big fish, it's used to catch the ground.

Scene 5

So this is a Nyuudou's true form! There's a rule that you should never look up at a Nyuudou, but I am a reporter. I must not back down under pressure like this!

Scene 6

This is how she gets water into ships. It's very convenient. It could be very useful on a hot summer night, maybe in a wide field.

Scene 7

I looked up at a Nyuudou, and true to the rule, I got attacked! It's because of that that you should never look up at a Nyuudou. They actually made the rule because the Nyuudou are shy.

Scene 8

Looks like she can't rest peacefully! I can sense unfathomable energy in the shadow of such a tragedy for this drowned spirit. I should write some depressing articles once in a while.

Level 6
Scene 1

It's the underground oni. All of the oni retired underground, so we tengu took custody of Youkai Mountain. No, really.

Scene 2

It's that Ibuki oni. Nobody knows just where she spends all her time now that she's come above ground. Maybe she'll quiet down if she finds a suitable living space.

Scene 3

I took some dramatic photographs of the oni's mysterious power. She can produce heat like this just by raising her hands. This power could burn up one or two human villages in a second.

Scene 4

A bunch of little oni burst out of her. I wonder if she can move all these little oni like they're part of her body... I wonder how much pain she would feel if they were crushed one by one...

Scene 5

Here it is. The oni's fake power. She's using a weird technique that I don't really understand. "The newspaper reporter never spoke of unnatural phenomena" is what I'd like to say, but...

Scene 6

For an oni, even a single sigh is an amazing thing. The photos are almost all white, so you can't really tell what's going on when you look at them. What's more, they reek of liquor.

Scene 7

It's like I'm at a screaming contest. Her voice is so loud that it flattens all the trees in the area as if they're nothing. She truly is a walking catastrophe.

Scene 8

At last, photographs of the true form of the king of monsters! Details aside, I have to take my hat off to the oni's attitude. But, somehow, the focus point of the photos isn't quite right...

Level 7
Scene 1

It's a youkai tiger that pretends to be Bishamonten. A great example of how even youkai can gather faith if they're serious about it. After all, there are tengu who have become gods.

Scene 2

A mouse showed up. Mice are small, sly, and unsanitary. She looks like she might be carrying diseases, so I'd better exterminate her thoroughly.

Scene 3

It's a hungry tiger. I captured it at a moment when you can feel its wild nature. I guess she's only an animal, after all. It was stupid of her to have a contest of speed against a tengu.

Scene 4

She said she can dowse, so I got her to show me. I was wondering what dowsing was, so she dug up some old coins that had fallen on the ground. How amazing!

Scene 5

She showed me her mandala. I'd heard that a mandala was a map of another world, but the one in this map is really well ordered. Maybe even a little rigid...

Scene 6

Since I praised her for digging up coins, this time she dug up gold! I have to change my opinion of mice. I hope she digs up a scoop next!

Scene 7

Wow, my head is spinning... the radiant light of gold can drive a youkai mad. It makes me wonder what someone gathering faith putting on a flashy show like this is trying to achieve.

Level 8
Scene 1

A cat that reeks of corpses. It's hard to convey in a picture, but when you get near her, you can feel her unrest. Brrr.

Scene 2

I took pictures of the atomic raven, but the pictures got overdeveloped, and came out pure white. How am I supposed to take good pictures of the sun?

Scene 3

When the cat walks over someone, it looks like they revive. I can't really explain it, but, well, maybe the fairies are just playing zombie.

Scene 4

I can't take good pictures with this backlight. I asked the kappa about it and though they said "you should adjust your exposure in backlight", wearing more clothes in this heat is...

Scene 5

It's pretty crowded here, nothing at all like the countryside. After all, the liveliness of corpses is proportional to the amount of living things. They're just pretending, though.

Scene 6

I've given up on taking pictures of Miss Okuu. So I think I'm going to feature a blank picture on the newspaper and write "This is Utsuho Reiuji".

Scene 7

Tsk tsk, such an ill-mannered cat. Wonder if there is anything I can use to repel cats? Well, normal cats are okay, but this one's a bad omen.

Scene 8

The Big Dipper? Aah, the dragon in the sky. If a dragon came raging, this probably wouldn't be enough to stop it. But what is that little star stuck to the back of the seven stars?

Level 9
Scene 1

What an annoying character, reading minds. I think about lots of things, so it wouldn't be very good to have my mind read. I have to take a photo that gives me an article to keep her mouth shut.

Scene 2

Koishi's a satori too, isn't she? It looks like she can't read minds, but I wonder if that's really true? A satori who can't read minds is just small fry.

Scene 3

When there's a trace of fear deep in your heart, that's trauma. It looks like it can get in the way during your day to day life. It's scary how you never know when it'll explode.

Scene 4

Humans are under the control of some kind of swirly things. Maybe the intense ups and downs of the village were caused by these swirly things? But where are these swirly things located?

Scene 5

When I try to take a picture, she reads my mind and gets out of the way. This is why I don't like satori. Is my only option to sneak pictures like a peeping tom?

Scene 6

They say the human embryo dreams in the mother's womb. What a scoop! The dreams' contents are... ...microbes, fish, and dinosaurs... they say.

Scene 7

I can't shake the feeling that I've seen this danmaku before... I guess she can even pull out thoughts I've already forgotten. I wonder if I can make use of a satori this way.

Scene 8

This is some thorny danmaku. Maybe everyone's thorny deep inside their heart. I'm thorny, too. If I can't get any material from these pictures, I think I might go on a raid.

Level 10
Scene 1

A celestial who is oblivious to the world. Celestials were originally humans, so they're not compatible with youkai. On the flip side, they're very compatible with news articles.

Scene 2

It's an oarfish that swims in the sea of clouds. She can acutely sense earthquake omens and then warns everyone about them. They say she's also weather forecasting, lately.

Scene 3

Before I can play with danmaku, I have to find the safe way out. These rising danmaku are pretty slow. "Don't retreat, don't hesitate, don't despair" is the rule.

Scene 4

Aagh, the danmaku won't disappear even if I shoot it with my camera. So this is some of the Dragon God's power... I think it's about time I gave my camera a power-up.

Scene 5

That's an unconventional way of using a keystone. Aren't keystones supposed to be guards of the catfish? I don't think they should be thrown around, or stood on.

Scene 6

Come to think of it, I haven't seen any sea breams or flounders lately. A long time ago, I would go to the sea often. Their bland bloodless taste really isn't satisfying, though.

Scene 7

I captured the moment when the human temperament was blasted out! As expected, it's hot. Though, I've gotten the smell and taste of humans coming from my photos.

Scene 8

Messengers from the Dragon's Palace inhabit thunderclouds, so that might be why they are electrified themselves. I also wonder about where she travels. I seem to run into her by chance.

Level 11
Scene 1

It's the god who recently settled at the top of the mountain. She has a peace treaty with the tengu, so nobody can interfere. But in a place like that, there's gotta be a scoop waiting.

Scene 2

There are all kinds of gods at the mountain shrine. It's a combination of a snake, a frog, and a human. Some day I'd like to photograph the human catching the snake eating the frog.

Scene 3

She's a hungry snake, isn't she? Snakes certainly are fast. Maybe I should catch a grass snake or something and make it my hors d'oeuvre tonight!

Scene 4

It's very hard to break a jade, even if you hit it. They aren't as hard as most minerals, but apparently they're very tenacious. In other words, they're the perfect thing to throw as danmaku.

Scene 5

This god demands that we tengu participate in a weird festival. It seems to involve hurling long poles off of cliffs and forcing the people living in the ravine to relive the stone age. Why?

Scene 6

Just between us, I hear kanawa don't look like the iron rings she throws, but are shaped longer and narrower. She's concealing the real thing. Next time, I'll just sneak in.

Scene 7

Omiwatari can create paths across lakes, right? That's really the fairies making impromptu roads when the lake is frozen solid, isn't it? I'm sure of it.

Scene 8

Mishaguji-sama was a harvest god as well as a god of curses... Not a well-understood deity. I suppose this time she's a god of war? Or of something else?

Level 12
Scene 1

It's the nun who built the Youkai Temple earlier. Apparently both humans and youkai are accepted, unlike the shrines, but I wonder what it means to be accepted. As food, maybe?

Scene 2

It's a nue. When you see something you don't really understand, you call it nue-like, and I don't really understand the nue. Nor this purple mirror. How am I supposed to write about this...?

Scene 3

I got total coverage of the monk's pilgrimage. I made the parts when she was human and when she was sealed in Makai easy to understand. I can fool humans and youkai alike with this, right?

Scene 4

I heard a rumor in the village about a mysterious man in a red cape who kidnaps children. Kidnapping children should be common for youkai, but catch and release has gotten popular lately.

Scene 5

This is that 'manifestation theory', right? So this is why I saw that cosplay with Amaterasu dressed up as Mahavairocana? I don't know much about Buddhist temples, so that really helps me out.

Scene 6

It's Hanako-san, who reaches her hands up out of the toilet in the rumors. Why can't she be calmer in unsanitary places like that? Such classless material doesn't belong in my newspaper.

Scene 7

Oh my, it seems my camera is ineffective! Even though she used to be a human, she's quite good. Looks like I can't let my guard down. Now I can say this is studying! So exciting.

Scene 8

I don't really understand, but mysterious danmaku is falling from the sky. Is some wandering star offering to play with me? Then I'll just take the offer and write a fun article about it!

Level EX
Scene 1

My, the usual shrine maiden won't take my newspaper? That kind of sticker makes no difference to me, of course! Newspaper info is an indispensable part of life, you know.

Scene 2

The burgling human magician who lives in the forest. She's quite troublesome, and sneaks into the mountain all the time, even after my warnings. She's going to get herself killed one day.

Scene 3

One of the mountain gods. It's getting peaceful here, like the last time there was a god on the mountain. I wonder if they will bring the tengu status up to par with the outside world?

Scene 4

Oh my, an exclusive photography forbidding barrier, nasty. Is it because of another tengu's terrible reporting? The next time I see a tengu like that I'd better scold her.

Scene 5

These bullets are her specialty. Wait, I can't write an interesting article like this! I want to see more of her rowdiness and burglary.

Scene 6

Wait, this power is the frog god's power, isn't it? So this girl still hasn't become independent? Maybe it would be interesting to do a serial piece on her coming-of-age. As I imagine it.

Scene 7

Despite being just a human, she can teleport just like that. Even I can't keep up with the speed of teleportation. Though, it doesn't look like she realizes she's teleporting...

Scene 8

Oh yeah, if I write about her it would be like this: "Beware the Shining Purse-Snatcher!" Lively thieves are attractive, after all.

Scene 9

Oh, did she create a youkai exterminating spell all by herself? Youkai power is gushing out. I see it also protects the dignity of mountain gods. Everyone lives happily ever after.

Spoiler Level
Scene 1

Oh, dear, I've been declared war on. Well, she'll go back to being a shut-in with a little coaxing. I'll have to teach her how harsh the world really is.

Scene 2

Her camera's performance really is awful. The humans in the village would just laugh at something as cheap as that. The kappa's work was really halfhearted, too, huh?

Scene 3

Ah, her camera has a continuous shooting mode? Mmm, well, it's not like I'm jealous. Her film rewinding time is short... but I'm really not jealous.

Scene 4

So, she decided to bring out thoughtography? And after she had gathered the courage to go out and collect material herself. That's just a shame. Maybe I bullied her a little too much?
