Hi, I'm Oxy. I'm hoping to work on translating stuff to Turkish even though a Touhou playerbase who doesn't already know English doesn't exist in Turkey. So I'm basically doing this for the experience.

How do I translate?

My main goal is to make sure the text doesn't sound alien (sometimes, alienization is good however.) to the reader and for the reader to understand the text. To this end I'm going to be doing slight changes in meaning without straying far from the source text. While I do translate from English to Turkish, I also do take into account the origins of Japanese words or phrases and research those to see if I can come up with a better alternative than the one used in the English translation.

Dictionary

[Sign] --> This word is derived from the Japanese "符" which I believe to be derived from the Chinese "符", commonly used in "符箓". "符箓" in Chinese basically means "Taoist Incantation". "Incantation" in Turkish is either "Büyü" or "Sihir". In some Turkish translations of the earlier games, the translators have used the term "İşaret" instead. This is wrong as "İşaret" doesn't make any sense in the context of the games. "İşaret" means "Signal". I dont claim the origins I provided to be correct but I will still do it my way because "İşaret" has no relation to magic whatsoever while "Büyü" or "Sihir" are words related to magic.
