This place has an uninteresting aura about it. I've got no business being at boring places. |
No photos |
It feels like something interesting might happen here. |
Low score |
Hmm. I've taken enough pictures, but... These photos are all a bit second-rate. Perhaps I should have another go at taking them? |
Low photos |
Well, I've taken some shots here, haven't I? But if I can't get a few more good photos, I can't write up an article. \ |
Level 1 | |
Scene 1 |
I did a little photography practice with the harvest goddess who was wandering nearby. Maybe I'll do this again if I start getting rusty... \ |
Scene 2 |
My practice partner snapped. Even though I should have been the one getting angry! It bothers me how easily gods lose their tempers these days... \ |
Scene 3 |
Shake the tree and the leaves come dancing down. Watching the goddess of falling leaves hitting the trees so violently... She's going to strip them bare. \ |
Scene 4 |
This year's harvest festival is quite something, isn't it? I wonder what they're harvesting and what they're celebrating? I wonder if it's... that? You know, humans? \ |
Scene 5 |
The winter wind is cold. I took pictures of the leaves that the wind blew up into the air, but I don't really think they'll make good material. Well, I guess I was causing some wind, too. \ |
Scene 6 |
Oh, the goddess also runs a sweet potato stand. Autumn is all about the sweet potatoes, isn't it? Soukan Noguni certainly was great! |
Level 2 | |
Scene 1 |
This is the famous jealousy-maniac. Lately I've been wondering if maybe her jealousy is just an act. |
Scene 2 |
Reporters sometimes delve into the darkness of others. Those detested Nagashibina are one of those things. I want to challenge someone without having to worry about libel! |
Scene 3 |
Such an explosion of jealousy! I've never heard of hysteria where the patient's very thoughts explode. I wonder if it's a kind of heart disease...? |
Scene 4 |
The purification river is a river that carries away a human's filth. As expected, it's piled up on the riverbed. How filthy. \ |
Scene 5 |
Oh my, with flames of jealousy as splendid as these, even I get jealous once in a while. Maybe that's not a bad thing. But, I wonder how I can get jealous. \ |
Scene 6 |
The omikuji I drew said "bad luck". I guess maybe I just went to pick up some misfortune. It's best to keep on drawing until you get "very good luck," when that happens. \ |
Level 3 | |
Scene 1 |
She's an earth spider. They're quite skilled and strong, and specially good with architecture, so I invite them over often. It's very convenient. I should get to know more youkai like her. |
Scene 2 |
She swings around this horribly unfashionable umbrella. I wonder, is she having fun? I really don't understand the way young umbrella monsters think these days. \ |
Scene 3 |
Uh-oh, it's a Tsurube-otoshi! Despite her appearance, this is a ferocious youkai. She waits in the darkness for humans passing by, but the places where she hides are obvious. \ |
Scene 4 |
I managed to get a shot of the instant she shot out her sturdy threads. They're thin, but they're even used in architecture. They only snap under special conditions. I wonder what they are? |
Scene 5 |
A glorious rainbow appears! Apparently, they're a type of dragon god - such a cryptic being. I hope my pictures of it come out all right. \ |
Scene 6 |
I was attacked pretty seriously. I'd like to have gotten more detailed material on her, since so little is known about this youkai, but when she goes berserk like this, well... \ |
Scene 7 |
The Japanese foliage spider is a deadly arachnid living in this region. The mothers of this species offer their bodies as food for their young... but no one would read an article like that. \ |
Scene 8 |
When I fly over the village on rainy days, I see people carrying umbrellas. Doesn't that leave them a bit defenseless? They'd be blind to stuff coming down from above, like shrine maidens. \ |
Level 4 | |
Scene 1 |
I took rolls of photos of a kappa playing on the river bed. Whenever you find that looking for story material is a pain, it's wonderfully easy to just cover local stuff like this. \ |
Scene 2 |
The white wolf tengu who is in charge of the mountain security. I came to check if she has been actually working. Though we get into fights easily whenever we meet... \ |
Scene 3 |
I photographed the kappa playing in the water. She appears to be playing innocently, but if you look closely you tend to see a human drowning. Ahh, so scary. \ |
Scene 4 |
As usual, I got bitten. This mutt is so obedient towards the Great Tengu, but you can tell that she is looking down on us crow tengu. *fume, fume* \ |
Scene 5 |
It looks like the kappa is bathing happily. You might think this is harassment, but it's not. If she spotted me, I'll blow lots of water at her with gusto. \ |
Scene 6 |
Since I need materials for my article, I had her show me how she chases off intruders. Her skill makes her look bigger than she actually is! I hope she would always be in charge of guard duty. |
Scene 7 |
The shirikodama, with its eye-watering stench, isn't that bad if it's dried out. But just how many humans were sacrificed to get this many shirikodama? This is something of endless interest. \ |
Level 5 | |
Scene 1 |
Hmm? Here's a youkai you don't see very often... She looks like a nun. I wonder if she's a priest at the temple they built in the village? I think I may make a series on her. \ |
Scene 2 |
She's a boat spirit. There aren't many places you can use a boat in Gensokyo, so maybe she's bored. But if she lived in the Sanzu River, she might be able to sink as many boats as she wants. \ |
Scene 3 |
Ahh, such a big hand! I wonder if he's a Mikoshi-Nyuudou... I found a sense of camaraderie in meeting old youkai like this. Gensokyo really is paradise. Still, it hurts when he hits me... |
Scene 4 |
I've never seen an anchor before, but it's just a big fishing hook, isn't it? Except that instead of being used to catch big fish, it's used to catch the ground. |
Scene 5 |
So this is a Nyuudou's true form! There's a rule that you should never look up at a Nyuudou, but I am a reporter. I must not back down under pressure like this! |
Scene 6 |
This is how she gets water into ships. It's very convenient. It could be very useful on a hot summer night, maybe in a wide field. |
Scene 7 |
I looked up at a Nyuudou, and true to the rule, I got attacked! It's because of that that you should never look up at a Nyuudou. They actually made the rule because the Nyuudou are shy. \ |
Scene 8 |
Looks like she can't rest peacefully! I can sense unfathomable energy in the shadow of such a tragedy for this drowned spirit. I should write some depressing articles once in a while. \ |
