・Game Objective
You control the humble tengu ‘Aya Shameimaru’, a newspaper reporter, whose goal is to acquire photos of both youkai and humans for her newspaper articles.
If she can gather pictures which grants the subject emotional damage, she considers it a personal victory.

・Rules
Move Aya to avoid being hit by enemy bullets whilst photographing the subject.

Photos in which the subject is not captured do not count.

If you photograph the subject in the required amount of time, then you clear the stage. Also, note that high scores for uncleared attempts are not saved.

・File Loading Rate
You can only take a photo when the camera is charged to 100 per cent.
Taking a photo resets the camera to 0 per cent.

・Usual Film Winding
Without doing anything, the camera will slowly recharge,
and when it reaches 100 per cent, you can take another photo.

・High-Speed Film Winding
Whilst the camera is less than 100 per cent, if you hold the Photo+Focus Buttons simultaneously, the film shall wind faster than usual.
However, this will activate ultra-precise movement, which is slower than focus speed.
*If the camera is already at 100 per cent, doing this will still reduce moving speed.

・Viewfinder Mode
If the Photo Button is held down, you will enter Viewfinder Mode for a fixed time.
During this time, control shifts from Aya to the Focus Frame, and it's possible to take a photo at a short distance away by moving the frame with the directional keys and then releasing the Photo Button.
*The Focus Frame (shooting range) rapidly becomes smaller with time, and if held down for a fixed time, the film will become photosensitive (an unconditional shooting failure).

・Valid & Invalid Photos
Photos in which the boss is captured are valid. Any others are invalid.
Only valid photos count towards Scene Score and clearing the stage.

・Shoot the Bullet
When photographing, any bullets captured by the photo are erased.
The beautiful patterns captured will also determine your evaluation score.

・Decisive Instant Shot
For each mission, the highest scoring picture across all attempts becomes the ‘Decisive Instant Shot’ for Aya to record in her notebook.

・Advice when Photographing
When photographing, you cannot take a photo if you are holding down the Focus Button. Remember to release the Focus Button before pressing the Photo Button.

・Evaluation Points of Photos
Photos are worth more points the more enemy bullets are captured and the more centred the boss is in the frame.
(Also, various other conditions can increase the final score.)

・Scene Score
Scene Score is decided by only the total evaluation score of all successful photos for that scene.
Failed photos do not contribute to Scene Score at all.
*Because the required number of successful photos is decided by each scene, be sure to take each shot carefully.
・Combined Photo Evaluation Points
The total from each scene's high score (the highest Scene Score) is the ‘Combined Photo Evaluation Points’.
Therefore, because the Combined Photo Evaluation Points only includes points from successful photos, take consideration for each shot.

・Failed Photos Suggestions
Failed shots will still erase enemy bullets. Try taking shots in tough spots just to cut through heavy barrages, without worrying about capturing the subject.
Also, because failed shots are not recorded in the notebook, the reload time for the next shot will be shorter. This strategy provides for more
advantageous opportunities of photographing difficult opponents.

・Focus Frame Colour
In Viewfinder Mode, when the boss enters the focus frame, the frame becomes red. A shot taken at this time will be successful.

・Focus Frame's Initial Position
The focus frame's initial position is indicated by the viewfinder cursor.
The cursor speed will follow Aya's movement direction when moving at full speed and – when focussed – will move towards the boss.

・Impossible to Photograph Boss Situations
When the boss has disappeared, gone off-screen, becomes translucent or transformed into something else, any attempted photo will result in a failed shot.
*Often a blue magic circle will form around the boss when a shot is impossible.

・The Estimate Time Until the Film is Photosensitive
When using the Focus Frame, a large red circle appears in the centre of the frame that quickly shrinks. It will disappear completely in about a second, and when it does, the shot becomes photosensitive (thus becoming a failed shot), and the camera charge will be reduced to 50 per cent.

・The Aim of the Viewfinder Cursor
When approaching the boss at high speed, the viewfinder cursor may not be aimed towards the boss. In this case, briefly press the Focus Button to re-align the cursor on the boss.

・Screen Border & Photos
Taking a photo around the edge of the screen may cut off the shot.
This is a bit of a waste, so try to aim towards the centre of the screen.

・Photo Evaluation Score Bonuses
There are various evaluation score bonuses available:
Boss Shot: The boss is captured in the shot (the more centred, the better)
Nice Shot: Capture a shot during a shutter chance
Red Shot: Capture a shot with a lot of red colour
Risk Shot: Take a shot whilst Aya is grazing an enemy bullet
...as well as many other bonuses.
*Some of these are not possible in all missions.

・Nice Shot
The moment when the boss casts a red magic circle is a Shutter Chance.
A shot taken at this time will include the Nice Shot bonus that varies depending on the amount of circle captured by the shot.
Since the magic circle only appears for an instant, time your shot carefully.
*There are also some missions without any Shutter Chances.

・Locking a Decisive Instant Shots
On the scene selection menu, pressing the L Key will display a little L character
in the corner of the scene's photo and lock it from being overwritten.
Hereafter, Decisive Instant Shots with a higher score will not update this photo.

・Deleting a Decisive Instant Shots
All Decisive Instant Shots are stored in the ‘bestshot’ folder within the game's
instal directory. If you want to delete a particular Decisive Instant Shot,
you can delete the corresponding .dat file and then replay the scene to
take a new photo. A file named ‘bs_XX_Y.dat’ is the best picture for Level XX, Scene Y.
*Doing this will not affect any other saved scene statistics, including the high score and the overall evaluation score.

・Updating a Decisive Instant Shots
At the stage clear screen for a scene, you can select which best shot will be shown as the Decisive Instant Shots. Use the left and right arrow keys to switchover a valid shot and press the S Key
to save a valid shot.
*This shall forcibly update the Decisive Instant Shot, even if the previous shot was locked.

・Scene Slowdown Rate of a Decisive Instant Shot
On the scene selection menu, press the S Key to display the
Scene Slowdown Rate for that scene at the time of taking that Decisive Instant Shot.
